BSc Computer Science

The B.Sc computer science degree programme is designed to provide you with the essential material required by a computer science graduate. We at Kasturi aim to teach you computer science in such a way that you can enjoy it, and gain employment using it in a variety of industries. Since 2009 the Department of computer science has offered a computer science degree which lays emphasis on possible areas of application for computer science. The aim of the bachelor course is to teach specific skills for the application of computer science in selected application areas. In addition to basic skills in the design of information processing systems, sound knowledge in one area of application of computer science plays a central role.

The degree “computer science in applications “accentuates the engineering constructive character of computer science which is essential for the creation of software systems. Students are taught specific skills from the area of application which are necessary for the creation and application of software systems from the area. The mathematical and natural scientific foundations are also geared to the area of application.

What will this Course Cover

This programme covers all aspects of Computer Science including the underlying principles and theory. On graduation, The first two years cover a range of compulsory modules including Programming in Java, Computer Systems, Databases, Software Engineering, Algorithmic Foundations, Complexity of Algorithms, Decision, Computation and Language. You then choose from a selection of modules representing the cutting-edge of Computer Science today. These cover topics such as Bio-computation, Introduction to Computational Game Theory and Complex Social Networks, amongst others. This Degree includes a second year group software project and an individual project.
